SiGNa Chemistry, Inc., makes a breakthrough with developing a new electric bike that runs on water. The fuel-cell-powered electric bike that promises 60 miles on a single charge cells uses sodium silicide in the form of a sand-like powder. When this is added to water, it instantly creates hydrogen gas, which is then used to generate electricity.
SiGNa’s new bike comes equipped with swappable and are fully recyclable cartridges, meaning you don’t have to wait for recharging, you can simply swap-in a new cartridge whenever required. The current units can be designed to put out anything from 1-watt to 1-kilowatt. As of now, the company is taking pre-orders for the cells, but you might have to wait a little longer for the bike. This new technology by SiGNa will not only limit to electric bikes but could be seen in bigger transportation too.
