Everyone bets but there are few bets that sent the world into laughter for the sheer amusement value of the price. I remember this guy who bet a friend he will get breast implants for $25,000. He did and he is now $25,000 richer. The more amusing thing is that he still has the breasts.

Doped.

The list below features the most amusing bets celebrities got themselves into.

10. Shaquille o Neil

NBA star Shaquille O’Neal and a friend debated whether or not he can get into the White House without an appointment. The price, 1,000 push ups. If he couldn’t get past the gate, he would do 1,000 pushups. If he made it inside, his buddy would have to do the pushups.

Shaq finally gave it a try. The secret service agent politely told him he can’t go in. I think he is done with his 1,000 push ups by now.

He gambled with his life everyday but Evil Knievel his 37 year old doctor $10,000 that he would outlive the younger man. However, in 2007, Knievel lost the bet when he passed away.

I don’t know how the pay out worked.



7. Jimmy the Greek

Known gambler Jimmy the Greek had bet $10,000 on Truman at steep 17:1 odds. In all fairness, he researched the odds and realized that female voters didn’t like facial hair. He knew it wasn’t looking good for Dewey.

Arnold Palmer wanted to propose to his girlfriend but he couldn’t afford a ring. So, he borrowed money from friends which they lent to him. When they invited him to New Jersey, he though of a way to pay off his debt. He invited them to play at the New Jersey’s Pine Valley Gold Club, one of the hardest course in the country. He bet to get $100 for every stroke he finished under 70. If he played poorly on the notoriously tough course, he would shell out $100 for every stroke he finished over 80. Although he bogeyed the first hole, Palmer repeatedly used this system along with a variety of side bets to wriggle out from under $5,000 in debt in a single weekend.

The drummer told London reporters that he had bet a thousand pounds that the Beatles wouldn’t play together that year, and that he would be happy to throw a thousand quid down on the group never playing together again.

He lost.



4. Hollywood Ad

Saving Private Ryan was locked in a duel with Miramax’s Shakespeare in Love. Dreamworks honcho Jeffrey Katzenberg bet actor Warren Beatty that his rival Miramax would run more ads hyping its film than Dreamworks would.

The stakes: a $10,000 donation to the charity of the winner’s choice. Beatty won the wager when Dreamworks took out 165 pages of ads versus Miramax’s 118, and Katzenberg paid up.



3. Computers Are No Match for Chess Master

In 1968, Scottish chess champion David Levy bet four professors 1,250 British pounds that nobody would make a computer that could beat him within the next 10 years.

He won.

It inspired him to put up another $1,000 as a bounty for the first chess program that could beat him in a four- or six-game match. He eventually fell in 1989 to Deep Thought, a precursor to famed chess computer Deep Blue.

When Cleopatra was 30, she bet her new lover, Mark Antony, that she could drink $500,000 worth of wine without leaving the table. Mark Antony accepted but lost when she dropped two pearls worth 10 million sestertia into a glass of wine, which she then drank.
